Wanna Hear A Fish Story?

We've been fortunate to fish quite a bit in December and early January, but nothing like what we'll be doing when March arrives and we're fishing six days a week and two trips a day on many days. Most folks don't realize just how good the  Wintertime action is for not only LOTS of fish, but the largest fish of the year as they are aggressively feeding and also full of eggs for the upcoming spawn.

This past Saturday Afternoon, we had both boats out for Afternoon Trips. Adam fished with new Customers ...Donnie, Angie and 12 year old Coleman Walters from Palestine as this was Colman's 12th Birthday present. (See attached picture) I fished with regulars...Joe Ready, Son Chris and Chris' Buddy JB of Dallas) . Chris and JB are also 12 years old. We left the Marina at Noon and returned a little before 4PM. In between this timeframe, the two boats combined CAUGHT over 400 White Bass, and had a couple of bonuses...a 10 lb. Blue Catfish and a 5lb. Hybrid Striper. ALL the White Bass were of the Magnum variety with many 16" plus fish! As a matter of fact, in our boat we had only ONE fish the entire Afternoon that was under the 10" minimum Keeper size. All our fish came on RSR Slabs (www.rsrlures.com) and most came from one location...a large hump in 30' water off the 287 Flats. The other bonus was the fact that only one other boat joined us the entire timeframe as we had this hugh school of hugh fish all too ourselves! Just to let you know this wasn't a fluke, I had the same exact experience on my other two trips this past week!

As long as the Winter temperatures stay mild you can expect this type of action. Last Winter, we fished all of January and February except for the one week period around the Super Bowl when we had Ice and Snow. You can also take advantage of our "Winter Special" until March 1st!
