Richland Chambers
Richland Chambers Fishing Report for Feb. 5th 2012
For the second Saturday in a row, a Cool Front blew in and caused us to cancel our trips for the Weekend. But, you know what....That's OK as the Front brought a little more rain and is continuing to help raise the Lake level. At it's lowest point in December, Lake Richland Chambers
was 8 1/2 feet low, and as of today, we're just a little over 4 feet low. We're in very good shape for Spring fishing, and if we were to get our normal March/April rainfall, I'm guessing the Lake would be FULL for the beginning of Summer! Let's keep our fingers crossed and the Prayers going up that the rain continues over Texas and ends this long drought!!!
I fished four trips last week and Adam fished a couple of days, and then he headed to the Woods for some Hog Hunting with Customers from Kansas. We did a Fish Fry for the Kansas Group on Thursday evening, and I learned that there are NO HOGS in Kansas! I told them to "Just wait a while, and I bet the Hogs will be there soon!" The fishing continues to be "as good as it gets" with mild temperatures and the fish acting like it's Springtime! The water temp was at 57 degrees on my last couple of trips, and on Friday morning, it took all of 2 hours to catch a 75 fish limit of White Bass for the Barron Family of Desoto. (See Picture) There's no one place we're finding our fish as Pelican Island, Windsock Point , the South Shoreline Points and others are all producing fish. We're continuing to catch our fish on 1 oz. RSR Silver and Chartreuse Slabs ( www.rsrlures.com )in water depths ranging from 30' to 45'.
Many of our Customers are taking advantage of the "Winter Special" we're offering through February. Three Fishermen fish at the two person rate, and four Fishermen fish at the three person rate! I am booked everyday next week, but we continue to offer Morning and Afternoon Trips, so give us a call and I bet we can get you on the Lake. We have only one Saturday with a boat open in February, and that's the morning of February 18th.
It's getting closer and closer to Spring Break time in Texas (Week of March 12th), and our calendar is filling nicely. We still have one boat open on the Saturdays (10th & 17th) before and after that week, and a boat open on Wednesday thru Friday the week of Spring Break. Monday & Tuesday are booked with both boats with AM & PM trips already. I have checked with the Marina and they still have Cabins available that week. If you want to get the Kids or Grandkids out that week, you need to give us a call soon to insure we can accommodate you.
Lastly, if you're contemplating a Group Trip this Spring, we want you to know there's no problem in getting you on the Lake. We have lots of Groups (Family, Business, Church, Policemen, Firemen, etc.) that continue to fish with us every Spring and Fall, and we'd like to add your Group to the list. We have a couple of Guide Friends that can help us with Groups of any size. Also, the Marina Lodge can handle up to 12 fishermen and has all the room you need to entertain your Group. Just give us a call and we'll make all the arrangements including a Shore Lunch Fish Fry if you so desire!
Thanks and hope to see you soon!
