Richland Chambers

Richland Chambers Fishing Report for Feb. 11th, 2012

This past week was a bit different with a little bit of rain, a lot of Wind, mild temperatures for the most part, and then we've ended the week with the COLDEST temperatures of the Winter. We had boats out on three days of the week, and cancelled trips three other days due to the Wind and Cold. We hated to call off so many trips, but as many of you know, Richland Chambers is not an easy lake to fish when you have a strong North Wind. Plus, the air temps made their way into the 30's on Saturday morning with a Wind Chill in the 20's! In my younger days, I braved lots of days when we fished with temperatures in the 30's, but not any more! We just call them off and hope the Customer has the flexibility to reschedule!

We caught fish on the days we were out, but for the first time this Winter, we really had to work for them. The fish have moved from their deep water pattern in 40'-50' water where they previously were  found in hugh schools. They made the move to 20' water and are much more scattered. We caught fish off the Windsock Point, Pelican Island and for the first time this Winter made the move to spots up the Richland Creek Arm of the Lake. All fish are still coming on RSR Silver or Chartreuse Slabs  ( www.rsrlures.com ),but we downsized to the smaller 3/4 oz. Jigging Spoon on a couple of the trips and caught more fish. I'm guessing the combination of continued small Fronts moving through, wild swings in the temperatures and a High Pressure System that hung over the area all week were some of the reasons we had catches in the 50's instead of the 100's we've been having. I'm also guessing we'll be right back to the LARGE catches in the next few days! White Bass and Hybrid Stripers never slow for long!

We're fishing more this February than we ever have. We're booked on the remaining Weekends in February, but have Weekdays we need to fill. We're also still conducting more Afternoon than Morning Trips due to the cool weather. If you want to get in on the last few days of our "Winter Special" rate, give us a call.  Our "Special Rate" ends on February 29th. Also, the Spring Saturdays (March thru May) and Spring Break Week of March 12th are about 75% booked. You definitely need to call if you can only fish on Saturday, or want a Spring Break date as we'll once again be having to turn away business.

Our Lake level is up as the recent rains have helped tremendously, the fish are biting and all we need is YOU! Give us a call and Let's Go Fishin'!
