Richland Chambers Fishing Report for Feb.2010

As of this writing in early February, Richland Chambers is a bit above normal pool level, the water temperature is in the high 40's degree range and the fishing has been good considering it's still officially Winter! The last few trips have produced some nice catches of quality size White Bass. I have heard of a few catches of large Hybrid Stripers, but we've not been able to find any that were of legal size. However, based on the number of 17" Hybrids we caught last Fall, the future looks good for the Hybrid population, and this Spring should be Great!

We've been catching most of our fish in water depths that are a bit surprising! We've caught fish as deep as 50' with the majority coming in the 35'-45' range. We're using a 1 oz. Silver Glitter Minnow Slab ( www.rsrlures.com ) and tying a small jig about two foot above the Slab. About half the fish are coming on the jig! Check out the Windsock Point as it's been as productive an area as any place on the lake for us. The reason the fish have been in this area and as deep as they are is the tremendous amount of baitfish that's congregated along the deep dropoffs on the Windsock Point.

For those of you who like to catch and eat Catfish, you'll find plenty of them in the same areas as we're finding the White Bass. Some really large Blue Cats are caught every year in the Winter & early Spring months on Richland Chambers. If you can fish on a nice breezy (not Windy) day and drift over the Main Lake Humps and Points in the 35'-45' water range, you'll usually find some cooperative fish. Small perch, shad or shrimp will get you a bite!

Spring is near and the fishing on RC will be AWESOME!!! If you're planning a Spring Break, just want to get rid of the Wintertime Cabin Fever, or want to get the Friends and Family on the Lake, give us a call at 903-389-4117. We fish Morning and Afternoon Trips in the Spring and fish everyday except Sunday!

Good Luck and Good Fishin'!
